Works of art that transform plain walls into exciting murals are all visualized in the head of talented artist Nikki Morris and then transferred straight onto the ‘canvas’
Hey-Fresco Murals is the Surrey artist’s company and her work can be seen on supermarket walls, nursery schools, surgeries and restaurants as well as domestic properties. She has undertaken many commissions for private residential clients. These range from children’s bedrooms to external garden walls and even ceilings with sky scenes or complex and intricate religious works painted around chandeliers.
Nikki, studied at Dun Laoighaire College of Art and Design in Dublin, Ireland. Her creativity is inspired by her customer’s requests. Looking through her portfolio, she has created murals that ranged from wild and sea life scenes to amazing examples of the trompe l’oeil (trick of the eye) technique, outer space to cartoon scenes and nursery rhyme stories depicted in infants’ school rooms.
Nikki has even appeared on BBC1 painting an exterior mural for Garden Invaders – the garden makeover programme. Nikki will always endeavour to incorporate something personal to the client. For example, on agreeing to do a trompe l’oeil for a client, she met their much loved ‘pooch’ and included him in the mural, much to the delight of the client!
Cosyhomes members can win their very own mural from Hey-Fresco and examples of Nikki’s work can be seen at www.hey-fresco.co.uk.
Imagine that you do not have a home. No walls, no ceiling, no windows, front door, furniture – absolutely nothing. You sleep wherever you can find a comfortable and dry spot and all your belongings fit in your pockets or whatever bags you can manage to carry. And all you really want is a place to stay where someone will care about you and where you can sleep safely. For most of us this will never be reality. We are lucky enough to have homes and family and friends who care about us. But for others life is simply about living and surviving on the streets. The Croydon YMCA works tirelessly to house the homeless and provide a caring and nurturing environment in which they can fulfil their potential. But it all takes money and we desperately need your help to fund essential repairs on our ten hostels. By buying a ticket in Cosyhomes Highland Hideaway competition (and entering YMCA in the offer code box), you have made a start as 10% of all ticket sales noting YMCA will be donated to help achieve this. For more information on how you can help rebuild people’s lives contact the Croydon YMCA Housing Association on 020 8667 9249 or if you are outside the UK +44 208 667 9249.
