Quick Tip of the Week

Posted Jan 05, 2008

For centuries, lemon juice has been a staple in the domestic cleaner’s repertoire of necessary cleaning agents. The juice from this fruit is approximately 5% citric acid, which provide it with its distinct tartness but also with cleansing properties when used as a household cleaner. Use lemon juice to help sanitise cooking surfaces such as kitchen counters or cutting boards. Rust and stains on plastic containers can be removed using lemon juice. Try diluting lemon juice in warm water and filling a spray bottle with the mixture. This combination is a great alternative to expensive and chemical-heavy store cleaners, and can even help remove heavy stains on rugs and carpets.
