Quick Tip of the Week!

Posted Feb 18, 2006

An attractive and decorative wind chime can easily be made from household scraps and is great for keeping the kids busy during the hols!

Experiment by hanging different materials from bits of nylon fishing line to see what makes the best noise. We used short lengths of copper tubing (left over from recent pipework) cut to different lengths but the ideas are endless...shells, stones, even scraps of wood which can be painted all work well!

Suspend the chimes from a wooden disc or use a small upturned basket, metal dish or lid. To support the disc and hold the chimes, use nylon fishing line (not dad's unless he agrees!!). Drill small holes through the disc and tie knots in the line to hold the line and there you have it...a great wind chime and busy kids!!!....bliss!!!
