Q: how would you build a shed floor from scratch? Peter

A: It depends a bit on what type of floor and what is there at the moment, but generally you have 4 phases;

  • Level the surface you are laying the floor on
  • Reinforce the surface (gravel, concrete)
  • Build a frame for the floor - to distribute weight and keep it away from moisture
  • Build a surface to walk on - usually interlocking boards of some description
Exact materials and methods depend on what you already have, what size of floor you need etc.
